I love meeting my clients at home where they live. That’s what Grant wanted was to capture he and Julie’s engagement session in the countryside around his home in rural Kansas. We had enjoyed beautiful Spring-like days for a week prior to their session but when this day came it was a chilling 44 and windy like the Kansas prairie often is this time of year. But the warmth between these two hearts served us well and kindled some great moments of loving images. Here are just a few of their favorites. Congratulations Grant & Julie!

Bridesmaids, groomsmen and full wedding party portraits…
Last but not least family portraits…
A birthday gift of memories was what this session was all about. A quick little mini-session to celebrate Mom’s birthday. This family taught me so much through this session; hope, grace, and healing comes in many forms. And life can be short but bring amazing joy, and love beyond loss.

Randi, capturing this day for you brought me so many smiles. You are truly a gem and I am so blessed to consider you a friend. What a beautiful day this was in so many ways. The weather was absolutely perfect but more than that the people that brought this day together were a dream. You and Michael and all your friends and family made this day so special and made my job so enjoyable. I saw your touch in everything from the beautiful country setting, the gorgeous colors, the lace and the boots.
Michael, the love and joy you bring to Randi and Skylar shows in every image. I don’t think I have ever smiled so much in my work as I did compiling this video. God has truly blessed this union. Thank you both.

As the day begins…getting ready at the beautiful Orchard House Bed & Breakfast, Wellsville, Kansas. It was a casual celebration of friendship as the bridesmaids got ready with conversation and laughter and anticipation. I loved the special time spent between just Mom and the bride as she got dressed for her long awaited day and the love and connection the bride and her daughter enjoyed all dressed in lace, twirling and dancing and grinning from ear to ear.
And then the moment when Dad sees his daughter…joyful tears all about. Love this moment!
The guys got ready just a floor away…
Michael and Randi chose to keep the first look for the wedding but we snuck these moments in just for fun. No peeking!!!
All are ready, it’s almost time. Dad and bride anxiously await for the horse-drawn carriage to whisk them away.
Dunn’s Landing, Wellsville, Kansas made the most beautiful setting for this country wedding.
As night falls….
What a beautiful day. A day full of fun and laughter, love enduring. I was so blessed to be given the opportunity to capture this great day.
We all got moving quickly this morning to capture these adorable family photos before church this morning. The kids are clean and in good spirits and we opted to get out early before any of that changed. McKenna is 3 and in over-drive from sun-up to sun-down and little Olivia watches and learns from her big sissy every moment. Benny is head over heels in love with his little sisters and all this adds up to a very successful photo session.
I was so happy to be able to capture this small intimately simple wedding for this couple in Platte City, Missouri. It was a rainy day but that didn’t darken any spirits or dampen the loving smiles this couple shared as they devoted their futures to each other. Witnessed and shared with their closest family members the joy was shared by all.
Thank you again Phil and Kerry for choosing me to capture your day. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.
I am so lucky to be a part of the business of wedding services and capture such an important time in my clients lives. To see their emotions and love played out in their story never gets old. I love getting to know them, becoming friends to enjoy other joys in their lives is a great blessing.
I document quietly and non-invasively, for my presence to become forgotten. Couples often ask how I got that shot, “I didn’t even know you were that close”… and no it usually wasn’t by a 200mm zoom lens. I love the fly on the wall approach to great documentation. Of course, it helps I am able to take advantage of my subjects being totally immersed in their love during those moments.
If you just became engaged and are planning your wedding, let’s get together. I love to hear about your story, how you met, what your dream day looks like. I love having the opportunity to capture both engagement and wedding photos. The engagement session is a great chance to learn what makes you click, understand your style and it allows for great image outcomes. Let’s tell a story together…your story.
